Big Apple's Big Plan - 2007
The performing arm of Manhattan Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, The Big Apple Chorus will begin 2007 and the new year (its 23rd) with an ambitious and exciting agenda for both its members and its audiences.

The Chapter's music team has renewed its commitment to ambitious, quantifiable and satisfying artistic growth, beyond craft, without sacrificing any of the chapter's ample fraternity and fun.

For the Big Apple Chorus singers, the chapter has renewed its contract with the professional vocal coach, Ron Meixsell. Under Professor Meixsell's weekly tutelage (in small and large group sessions), the chorus will continue to train, exercise and build on the fundamentals of relaxed, well supported, in tune, well placed singing.

Guided by Director Joe Hunter's vision and the Chapter's mission: "To Bring the best of Barbershop to Broadway and the best of Broadway to Barbershop" , the chorus will continue its tradition of specializing in a cappella, close, four-part, barbershop harmony arranged for songs from Broadway and the Great American Song Book.

The Chorus will continue to capitalize on the choreographic wizardry of former Radio City Rockette, Christine Oberc, tailoring her work to the Big Apple Chorus' high-spirited, entertainment-oriented, envelope-pushing, showmanship. Ms. Oberc's choreography has been universally well received for the past two years, by the chorus, its audiences and the judges of the BHS competitions. Her teaching methods have been equally well received by the chorus.
