Think you can't sing? EVERYONE can sing . . we just might not want to hear you sing a solo!!! With 85 other men in the chorus, we'd love to mix your voice in and make a positive impact on the Big Apple Chorus.
What if you don't read music? YOU DON"T HAVE TO! Many of the members of the chorus do not read music or know only the basics of reading arrangements. The chorus provides CDs that contain YOUR VOICE PART for almost every repertoire selection. If you can listen to a Walkman and repeat what you heard, you're WELL on your way to becoming a Big Apple Chorus member!!
Don't think you have time??!? The Big Apple Chorus rehearses 3 hours per week except during crunch time before a big event. It is up to you as to what additional time will be required in order for you to maintain your performance level for the chorus. All the time you spend in the car, train or subway can be spent listening to wonderful learning CD's of international caliber repertoire. There are also many men in the chorus that are willing to spend time off-line teaching and coaching other members on music, choreography or just general performance skills.
So let's face it . . for every reason you can come up with to NOT become a Big Apple Chorus member, there is a Big Apple Chorus member that can show you the way. Come on! Get out! Come sing with the Big Apple Chorus!
What do you do when your rehearsal turns into a three-ring circus? You count
on one of your star acrobats to jump off the risers and skillfully pull a rubber
chicken out of the director’s pants!
This month’s featured BACman wasn’t a class clown, but he was a
circus arts teacher. How handy is that when you are staging a musical production
of the song “Make ‘em Laugh?” We stopped by the confetti cannon
to question Brad Verebay…it was no laughing matter.

The Big Apple Chorus, in conjunction with the Barbershop Harmony Society, has a YOUNG MEN IN HARMONY program that will amaze you and energize your students. Don't let the name fool you. This is a program that can get ALL of your students studying music and singing a cappella harmony. There is a Young Women in Harmony program as well, as supported by the Sweet Adelines International organization. Either program will kick start a new curriculum or add to your current agenda with a fun, easy to learn, and very performable program.
